Nasrid Palace, La Alhambra // Granada, Spain

I really can’t express how beautiful La Alhambra is with words. I took so many photos. It was nice to be able to walk through the gardens and palaces at my own pace, not worry about holding people up with my incessant photo-taking and just take in the wonder. I’m going to break it up into a few posts, starting with Nasrid Palace, where I had to be at 8:30am or. else. They only let a certain amount of people in every day and you have a specific entry time to get into Nasrid Palace, the main sight. If you miss it you are out of luck! I got up early Wednesday morning (6am!) so I could get there early enough to print my ticket at the kiosk (reserved from Ticket Master– so easy and less of a line!). I thought I’d be able to walk through some of the gardens before entering the palace but it turns out they don’t open at all until about 8:15. I was at the main gate (there are 2 entrances) and was a little nervous that I wouldn’t make it to Nasrid Palace on time and loose my place, but my worrying was for nothing and I made it with time to spare :) I would highly, super-ly, majorly recommend getting the early ticket. It gets so hot in the afternoon and I was exhausted by the time I made it back to Elvira’s.  I’ve been walking everywhere and am burning off the paella and ice cream I consumed in Alcoy. Although Elvira’s wonderful family has been feeding me lots of good food! On with the photos, or this will never get posted. Don’t get me started on food ;)

Myrtle Patio.

The intricate carvings were amazing. Below is a close up of the wall. Floor to ceiling, and then the whole ceiling of carved wood!

This fountain was recently restored and just opened while I have been here in Spain! Any sooner and I would have missed it.
