2012Day 2 // Barcelona, Spain
After the adventures of day one in Barcelona I was ready for a break. I didn’t try to map out an intense itinerary but just wandered the streets and did a little window shopping. Despite my intentions to “take it easy on my feet” I walked a ton and by 7:30 I realized that almost all of the salons were going to be closed, ruining my ideas of a pedicure. After stopping into a few with no success I had almost abandoned the thought when I was passing a little Chinese salon where they practically pulled me into the chair and took my sandals off. At 12 euros who could say no? I almost spent 40 at an earlier place! The poor ladies didn’t know what they were getting into when they pulled me in; between the chatter in Chinese I heard the occasional exclamation of “muy mal! muy mal!” when they were scrubbing away at my sorry feet. I got an intense massage in the 12 euro deal and by the time I walked out my feet ached even more, but in a good way. I think. Haha.
I hobbled back to the apartment once again to find that my flatmates cooking up some pasta and hot dogs. I made myself a salad and sat down to an entertaining dinner with 3 Italians, one of which spoke a tiny bit of English. He apologized for his lack of English but I reminded him that I speak no Italian whatsoever. I did learn a few words and phrases at dinner though and we shared some good laughs.
I wish I would have kept up with my blogging throughout Barcelona, (now that I’m racking my brain for the details now… :P ) but I couldn’t pull myself away from the city to sit still and write! I would get up early and come back late, not wanting to miss a thing. (Although I missed a few turns and bus stops, getting lost on more than one occasion haha) Below are a few shots from day 2…. I miss Barcelona.
