2012Rainy Mornings // New York, NY
After a quick Pilates+spin workout this morning I pulled the umbrella out of the hall closet and waded through the water pouring down the street to a little Espresso Bar called Cafe Noi. I love rain. I really don’t mind that my dress is still wet as I sit here on the bed, or that my shoes were soaked and some study papers got damp even though they were in my bag. The sound, the smell, the cool clean feeling. It’s worth it. There is a sense of camaraderie as you walk down the streets with the rest of New York and you are all getting soaked together, you aren’t the only one with wet hair and squeaky shoes that morning. I ducked into Cafe Noi, shook out my umbrella and stepped up to the counter to ask for my latte. As I cozied up at the wooden table with the book of Jeremiah open (and Instagram as well ;) ) I felt like I was in Europe again with the hefty little cup filled with steamy milk and espresso delivered to the table. I’m settling into a somewhat morning routine here. Take the boy to the bus stop, then either head off for coffee and Bible time or come back and workout. Check email, eat breakfast, then start work around 10 or 11. I’ve found I church I think I’ll stay at, and am loving the city and slowly but surely meeting some new friends on my sparse time off :)
XOXO to my favorite people back home!
Hugs,
